Sime~Gen in Paper, Kindle, Audiobook

A few years ago, Wildside Press came to Jean Lorrah and I asking for reprint rights to our backlist.  Wildside picked up the entire Sime~Gen series that Jean and I collaborate on and own together.

We had barely finished doing the formatting work on all 12 extant Sime~Gen novels than a fellow who knew Jean's work via a connection to her University job as a Professor of English came to us wanting game rights to her novels.  We didn't have exactly what he wanted, but pointed him to some of the unpublished Sime~Gen work posted online, and it hinted at what he wanted.

For the last 6 months or so, we've been working to create the Sime~Gen galactic civilization, and meanwhile the novels have begun to appear in audiobook from audible.com which is a handy format many of his game development  crew prefer -- because it's hands-and-eyes free and allows for multitasking.

Amazon's cross indexing is a mess, what with all the used copies for sale (cheap), so for reference, I'm going to list the Sime~Gen novels in publication order with links to the various formats of the new editions.

You don't need to read them before playing the game because the game will include whatever background you would want to play in this universe's interstellar era.

The novels were published in an order that has little to do with the chronology of history in the Sime~Gen universe.  For that chronology consult:

New Review Column Posted and Reprints Coming

Folks:

My Monthly Aspectarian Review column now has a list of books to be reviewed through November 2012.

The columns available to read on simegen.com now include July 2012, which starts with a strange and interesting book titled, Interview With A Jewish Vampire.

You'll find the index to all 2012 at:
http://www.simegen.com/reviews/rereadablebooks/2012/

REPRINTS IN PROGRESS:

Those of My Blood and its companion volume, Dreamspy, two Vampire Romance novels from St. Martin's Press in Hardcover had the collector's price escalating above $500 a copy until BenBella re-issued them in paperback.  But they sold out, so now Borgo Press has picked them up and will soon provide both paper and e-book editions at much more reasonable prices.

Here are the Amazon pages for these books,

And you will also find the new editions listed on our Amazon bookstore (though the new editions will be available everywhere and in almost all e-book formats sans DRM)

http://astore.amazon.com/simegen-20

And here is a comment from a reader who accidentally found the Vampire anthology Vampire's Dilemma on Amazon.

"I saw the book "Vampire's Dilemma" on Amazon.com and because it had your name on it I had to have it.  I first stumbled upon the Sime-Gen books at the library near my work, then lost them for a long time, and started gathering them (and Those of My Blood, etc.) again.  I really enjoy reading them.  I also recently (2006 I think) discovered fanfiction and it gave me a whole new outlook on life beyond just voraciously reading.  I'm not saying I was nearly as good as some of the fanfiction writers, but good enough that people read what I wrote.  What a feeling!  Some of the other fanfiction writers were better than the ones out there in the bookstores, in my opinion.  I still read them faithfully.  It kills me that they're so slow with their updates!  I may not be as good, but I am consistent!  I started out with anime fanfiction, but eventually graduated & now post on fictionpress.  I don't mean to go on and on, because except for posting, I've never really "joined" anything on any of the sites.  I was just so pleasantly surprised when I read the authors' notes in "Vampire's Dilemma" that they did the same things in pretty much the same ways as I did--and went on from there!  There are so many good stories (and a lot of not so good ones, but even those can draw you in--if the story's captivating enough, you can overlook the bad writing!)  So I just wanted to share that I think it's wonderful that you recognize fanfiction writing and on-line writing in general.  Looking forward to more!  Eve"

Buying a Knit Tit

Last time I mentioned buying a knit tit on Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/360378520023

It arrived quickly. It was well made, attractive and much too big.  It stuck out over 3 inches from my chest.  My real one is less than 2 inches.  It was also firm.  I cut a slit in the bottom and pulled out over 80% of the stuffing. Then I sewed it back up again.

This knit tit is now a great prosthetic. It’s soft enough to wear during exercise.  Seriously, doing pushups with a silicone prosthetic feels weird and unbalanced. There’s that hard thing hitting the floor before the rest of me is down. The knit tit squishes down just like a real one, so exercising feels normal.

Even more importantly, the knit tit is soft enough to hug somebody without jarring them.
A silicone prosthetic feels like something hard between me and my huggee.

I decided I needed more so I could always have a clean one. I ordered them in different colors so I could tell which ones need washing.  Polly, the former midwife who knits them, wrote that she thought I had ordered different colors to go with my outfits.  I wear opaque bras, so that’s not an issue.  I told Polly, I may decide to take one out to show other women at cancer support meetings, but otherwise, only my husband and I will see them.

I also told Polly about the over stuffing. She said she usually makes them for classes on breast feeding, where the extra stuffing makes them easier to hold.  I told her I have enough stuffing from the one she already sent that I could stuff 3 more for my personal use.  She happily offered to send me 3 knit tits without stuffing and without the bottom sewn closed. She even gave me free shipping on the unstuffed ones.  She said to tell future prosthetic customers to mention that they want the stuffing packed separately from the knit tit, so they can decide how full they want it. So, if you’re ordering, be sure to mention you want the knit tit for a prosthetic.

I haven’t washed one yet, so I don’t know how long they take to dry, but I’m sure it’s not like a quick-dry sock.  I’ve been wearing it with a nursing pad between me and the knit tit.  So far I’ve only needed to wash the nursing pad.

June 2012 Updates

Vampire's Dilemma has picked up a couple of very nice reviews, and of course since there are 9 stories in this anthology, there's a lot more to say about it.  Which was your favorite story?

Being the editor, I couldn't "review" Vampire's Dilemma, but my Review Column Re-Readable Books is now posted through June 2012, with the books to be reviewed posted through November 1012 at:
http://www.simegen.com/reviews/rereadablebooks/2012/

As of June, 2012, it appears that both Jean Lorrah and I will be on the program at ChiCon7
http://www.chicon.org/  for details on the convention.  Fans are planning a Sime~Gen Party marking the release of the 12th Sime~Gen Volume in early 2012.  Keep current on plans by joining the Sime~Gen Group on Facebook.

New Sime~Gen Fanfic Coming to simegen.com

BORDERLANDS - Co-operative fanfic in the Sime~Gen Universe by a variety of (really marvelous, talented and skilled) writers is alive and well and about to GROW. I just gave the ftp keys to update the section simegen.com/sgfandom/fans/bev to Bev who has a backlog of items to post that need (of course) editing because they were created essentially "freehand" -- if you haven't discovered or kept up with Borderlands, now is the time to catch up because here comes more in this ongoing saga about a complex and unique town on, well, The Border.

 http://simegen.com/sgfandom/fans/bev/

That's the entry top page and from there you can cruise down into the episode list and catch up.

People from the Founding 400 who sponsored production of The Farris Channel have now been mailed and emailed notification that the book is available.

Several have turned up on the Sime~Gen Group on Facebook and noted that since their copies of the series novels had worn out, they bought full sets of the ebook versions.

That is one marvelous advantage to ebooks - you can reread them without wearing out the binding.

Progress Reports

Michael Spence has finished the recording of House of Zeor for audible.com audiobooks, and it is being compiled from the huge chapter files to a single file you can just listen to.

Here's what I wrote on the SIMEGEN Group on Facebook:

I've got the front matter, Chap 1 complete, most of Chap 2 which didn't upload totally, all of Chap 3 -- GOSHWOW. Spence has captured the characters, his reading is the best I've ever found in an Audiobook (not my usual venue, but I've listened to some to review them). You have no idea how BORING this book is after all these years and all these editions (well, Karen L. MacLeod does almost), but I listened to Spence with an idiotic grin on my face, pumping my fist in the air, and squelching shrieks of joy in order not to miss the next gorgeous WORDS which I could almost chant with him but didn't want to spoil a moment of it. You haven't read this book until you've heard this guy read it! It'll be a few weeks until they get it compiled and distributed. Save up to buy it because audiobooks are expensive, but that's for a reason!!! (a good one).

Meanwhile, Kaires is this weekend taking flyers for THE FARRIS CHANNEL and other Sime~Gen novels to a Mensa gathering. These are the flyers Zoe Farris made (in Australia!).

Kaires also updated the page where you can buy Sime~Gen Jewelry.

Sime~Gen Marketplace - Starred-Cross Jewelry

I have retrieved the rights to my Vampire novels, THOSE OF MY BLOOD and DREAMSPY, and made a deal with Borgo Press to reissue them as e-book and a new paper edition. That will be a few months in the making.

My next release will be the Vampire anthology (without any stories by me or Jean Lorrah) - VAMPIRE'S DILEMMA edited by Jacqueline Lichtenberg and Jean Lorrah, in ebook and paper from Wildside Press.

THE FARRIS CHANNEL - coming soon!

I have just been given the full cover of THE FARRIS CHANNEL, Sime~Gen Book 12.

It is now in the process of being made available Print On Demand -- it's a long book, so the trade paperback will be expensive.  It's printed on acid free paper with a very sturdy binding.  The e-book edition is likewise moving into the hopper and will appear within a few days, we expect.

You will find this available at all the best online outlets, with the e-book in your favorite format.

So what is Sime~Gen?

Soon we will have directions for attending the Sime~Gen New Year's Chat online, and will post them here and on the Sime~Gen Group on Facebook.

Meanwhile, I found the following exchange on a Facebook Chat on the Sime~Gen Group and asked permission to post it here.

This is just absolutely classic.  A new person comes along, hears everyone offhandedly referring to Sime~Gen and just asks so What Is Sime~Gen?  So here are some well known readers trying to explain it to a widely-read reader who has never heard of Sime~Gen.

"Azure Boone" is a writer I met on Google+, and Eliza is a reader, fan-writer, of Sime~Gen as well as a tech and an artist. Zoe likewise is a writer, fan-writer and Sime~Gen reader.  Zoe and Eliza live in Australia, and Azure is in the USA.  Zoe started the Facebook Group for Sime~Gen.  This is a casual chat log.

Azure Boone
hello
any body here?
Eliza Leahy
Hello
Azure Boone
oh hey!
Eliza Leahy
no, only me
:)
Azure Boone
i was wondering what sime gen is
Deirdre Moira Murphy
Hi
Eliza Leahy
I don't count, but you can talk to me anyway if you like
Azure Boone
oh hello
of course you COUNT
you're a woman?
Deirdre Moira Murphy
You mean you only spell?
Eliza Leahy
simegen is a series of books - about the future of mankind when it has mutated into two types - simes and gens
Azure Boone
ohhhh what are simes?
Eliza Leahy
simes need seyln to live - gens produce selyn
however, in taking the seyln from the gens, the simes usually "kill" them
simes have tentacles on their arms, 4 handling tentacles per arm, and two "laterals" which are for the transfer of seyln

okay, so, is this a theory that is supported by this entire group? And stories are written around the concept?
Deirdre Moira Murphy
It started with books
The group is fans of the stories
Azure Boone
ohhhh, I see
Eliza Leahy
The universe was written by JL - Jacqueline Lichtenberg and Jean Lorrah
Azure Boone
totally cool
so they created a world and this is like fan fic?
Eliza Leahy
you will have to get some of the books :)
there are 11 published books
and one on the way
and a LOT of fan stories
Azure Boone
like a baby
Eliza Leahy
yes, and the birth seems to be pretty hard! lol
Deirdre Moira Murphy
There is both fanfic and fic by the original authors.
Azure Boone
so cool, I see. Is it like Star Trek in vehicle delivery?
Eliza Leahy
scroll down the simegen page a bit and you will see a portrait I did of a sime friend of ours

Azure Boone
Or more like Star Wars...
Eliza Leahy
I'm not sure I see the distinction between ST and SW?
Deirdre Moira Murphy
Does someone here have a website link for Azure?
Azure Boone
LOL, maybe there isn't, except in a Force
Eliza Leahy
www.simegen.com
Azure Boone
that was easy, I'll book mark it
Eliza Leahy
there is also fanfiction on www.fictionbank.com and secretpens.org
www.secretpens.org
Azure Boone
so sime and gen are like... two different species from two different planets?
Eliza Leahy
no, mutations of humans
both are human and can breed
Azure Boone
ohhhhhhhhhh coool
Eliza Leahy
all from earth
no one knows how the mutation started, although there is speculation
Deirdre Moira Murphy
No, the human race on this planet mutates into one species, where some people are simes, and some are gens
Azure Boone
they can't see it at a genetic level?
Eliza Leahy
the further mutation is a channel - who can take seyln from a gen without killing them and give it to a sime - otherwise they would run out of gens
Deirdre Moira Murphy
And like male and female, any set of parents can have sime kids, gen kids, or some of each
Zoe Farris
Hello all
Deirdre Moira Murphy
Though two simes will have more sime kids, on average, and two gens will have more gen kids, on average.
Azure Boone
is one superior over the other?
Eliza Leahy
Now that Zoe Farris is on, I'll leave. I have gingerbread men to make ;)
yes - Gens are superior
Azure Boone
lol
Eliza Leahy
MWHAHAHAaaaaaa!!!!!!
Azure Boone
thanks gall
I mean gal!
do all agree that Gens are superior?
Zoe Farris
ahh the delusions of Companions
Eliza Leahy
All the gens do....
Deirdre Moira Murphy
Whether one is superior is a matter of opinion--just like which is superior, male or female?
Eliza Leahy
females
Zoe Farris
lol
Eliza Leahy
so female gens are AMAZING!
oh yeah, I was leaving.... heehee
Azure Boone
lol
female ANYTHING are amazing
Zoe Farris
Gens superior, well that is debateble
I agree females are, but I am sure any males here will not.
Eliza Leahy
Farris's are a further mutation - they whine a lot
Zoe Farris
What you find is that alot of fans identify either Sime or Gen, and then either Channel, renSime or Companion (Gen who can serve Channels) or ordinary Gen
Deirdre Moira Murphy
Multitudinous allergies will do that to a person.
Eliza Leahy
I'll leave you in the hands of the whiny Farris and Deirdre :)
Azure Boone
oh, is that supposed to be like PMS?
thanks for the heads up, lol
Zoe Farris
Thank you Eliza
Azure Boone
yes, Eliza, thanks
Zoe Farris
Maybe PTS Pre Transfer Syndrome. ;)
Deirdre Moira Murphy
Farris is a family name, and also ...kind of like redheads. Rare and flashy, and (metaphorically) easily sunburnt.
Azure Boone
lol
Zoe Farris
that is a great analogy
Azure Boone
so everything is basically the same in a fun way
well, maybe not fun, just different
Zoe Farris
So, Azure, have you read anything yet
Azure Boone
No, I haven't, I'm completely a nooooob
Zoe Farris
of Sime Gen I mean
cool
Azure Boone
right, knew that's what you meant, lol
Zoe Farris
Deirdre?
Azure Boone
i have my work cut out for me, or my fun
Zoe Farris
I'd say fun
Azure Boone
I imagine so
Zoe Farris
of cource we will be waiting to find out how you identify, if you do. :)
Deirdre Moira Murphy
It's been years since I read any of the fan fiction, but I read House of Zeor before it had a sequel.
Azure Boone
i know, I can't wait to JUDGE
is that a secret reason we read? To JUDGE?
Deirdre Moira Murphy
No, I read to escape into somebody else's problems! LOL
Zoe Farris
yes that was my fav and it was the first one in Australia
i found the stories were a wonderful analogy to my life and still do
it is a wonderful universe
Azure Boone
I think we want to figure out the problem
Deirdre Moira Murphy
I should either go to bed or work on my next Torn World story (different shared world)
Azure Boone
gives us some control
is that a neighboring planet to the Sime Gen
Deirdre Moira Murphy
No, a completely different world.
Zoe Farris
lol Sime Gen is here on earth.
Azure Boone
i KNOW, I'm keeping up
Zoe Farris
lol ok
Deirdre Moira Murphy
I got sucked in to Torn World writing entries to worldbuilding contests before it went public.
Azure Boone
i was wondering if it was a neighboring planet to earth, lol
and it just demanded existence
Zoe Farris
The fun thing Azure is which is going to be your first book. It is like transfer, the first one sets the standard and is considered the best (for some fans)
Azure Boone
which one should I read first, number one, right?
Deirdre Moira Murphy
I think my favorite might be Mahogany Trinrose, but I wouldn't reccommend reading it first.
Zoe Farris
it is hard to say. For a newbie House of Zeor is good because it is from the Gen POV. but others would say otherwise
Azure Boone
wait, isn't there an order
Zoe Farris
You could also read them in chronological order which would mean First Channel would be the start
Azure Boone
okay, typing that down
Zoe Farris
there is published order and chrono order
Azure Boone
hmm, I'll ask Jacqueline
Zoe Farris
after havnig read them several times each as they came out I now start from the first in chrono order
Azure Boone
the birthing mother
Zoe Farris
I am on To Kiss or To Kill now
Eliza Leahy
ok, gingerbread simes and gens are in the oven
no, you are reading 4+ now ;)
Azure Boone
lol
which is 4?
Zoe Farris
cool i will be expecting tentacles on mine
Unto Zeor Forever,?
Eliza Leahy
four plus - it's a fan story
ignore me
Zoe Farris
oh i see
Azure Boone
who's doing that?
Eliza Leahy
who is doing what?
Azure Boone
umm what you said, Eliza
who is doing fan fic
Deirdre Moira Murphy
Azure, I hope you enjoy them, whatever order you read them in!
Eliza Leahy
lots of people, but 4+ is one of mine that Zoe is reading
Azure Boone
I'm sure we don't have this vast audience because they're not awesome
ohhhhhhh, lmbo
and he's supposed to be reading
Zoe Farris
http://www.simegen.com/CHRONO1.html
Eliza Leahy
Zoe Farris is my Channel - I'm her Companion, we live in Brisbane, Australia, where are you?
Azure Boone
The Gens grew selfish
Zoe Farris
that is the cronological table which includes where the new ones fit in and some fan stories too I think
Azure Boone
tsk tsk
Eliza Leahy
that's the simes perspective naturally
Azure Boone
oh, then who wrote that link, a sime?
Zoe Farris
That is the very first part of First Channel
Azure Boone
who wrote the link Zoe gave?
Zoe Farris
It is the prologue to First Channel, the first in chrono order by Jean
Azure Boone
So God spoke that
Eliza Leahy
pfth
Azure Boone
lol, well? The author?
Zoe Farris
lol Eliza. It is legend
Eliza Leahy
yes, one of the authors
yum, gingerbread :)
Azure Boone
okay, I need to read, is that prologue an explanation of the story/universe or is it part of the actual story
Eliza Leahy
gingerbread with tentacles
Zoe Farris
IN the Universe no one knows what happened to cause the mutation, and anything said is mere speculation from either Simes or Gens, such as archeologists
Eliza Leahy
no, it's just a legend from back in time explaining why simes kill
Azure Boone
okay, so, this is just something that is believed to be true in the storyworld, not necessarily the author explaining how the story world actually "is"
Eliza Leahy
you can buy the books in electronic format now
Zoe - give the URL for buying them
yes, that is correct
Azure Boone
i need to, i need one of those READERS
Zoe Farris
yes, Azure, it is legend within the world.
Eliza Leahy
you can get a program for your computer that does it
Zoe Farris
i will find the link brb'
Azure Boone
i know, i'm just hating the idea of lobbing my computer around
Tim Lieder
Kindle has all the better titles. And it's better at getting the money to the authors. And you can also buy She Nailed a Stake Through His Head: Tales of Biblical Terror on it.
Azure Boone
but it does have a LIGHT
LOL, I know that story, who did that?
Zoe Farris
here is a bit of humour about being Sime I wrote years ago. http://www.simegen.com/sgfandom/Sime/index.html
and here is the link to the electronic published books. http://astore.amazon.com/simegen-20
I have them on my kindle for iphone.
Azure Boone
wow, thanks

Smart Pop Books — Power of Becoming

Smart Pop Books — Power of Becoming

Jean Lorrah and I have essays in 2 of these books, 7 Seasons of Buffy and 5 Seasons of Angel, both about the TV shows.

Leonard Nimoy Has Attended His Last Star Trek Convention - CinemaBlend.com

That link leads to an article about Leonard Nimoy retiring at age 80. I saw William Shatner on TV recently touting a new book and an album, and he's now 80, too.

Still waiting for news on THE FARRIS CHANNEL release, while my first audiobook release, MOLT BROTHER, is working it's way to the public.

HOUSE OF ZEOR is being recorded in audiobook, and there may be more to come.

Work continues on moving the simegen.com domain to a new server situation and starting the redesign.

Join the SIME GEN Group on Facebook for late-breaking news on availability, and a lively Q&A on Sime~Gen background.

The Farris Channel - #12 in the Sime~Gen Series from Wildside Press

Folks:

The Farris Channel - the story of the founding of the House of Zeor, is not quite yet available, but I have just sent Wildside the OK on the final-final typo-scrubbed manuscript.

Karen McCleod and Kaires both did very productive run-throughs of this manuscript, but I'm certain you will find more typos if you read closely.

The book will be available in paper and e-book (Kindle, Nook, and a wide variety of formats).
Let us know when you see it appear.

You can see 11 of the 12 volumes plus other works by Jean Lorrah and/or Jacqueline Lichtenberg on this Amazon Store then find them handily on your favorite outlet.

The newsletter is lagging our news - by a lot.

ReReadable Books is now updated through July 2011.  Click the month link on the left and read the columns.

If you've been following breaking news on the SIMEGEN Group on Facebook, you've seen the following developments.

All the Sime~Gen novels are now in new paper and a new, wide variety of ebook formats including Kindle and Nook.  Three new volumes are likewise available, and a 4th, the long-awaited Farris Channel (story of the founding of the House of Zeor) is in copyediting.  These Wildside Press editions are numbered in order of publication but each volume contains the chronological order.

Find all of them in this handy Amazon store or easily look them up by title on other retailers.

Another New Sime~Gen Novel

NEW! NEW! NEW!

The latest Sime~Gen release is TO KISS OR TO KILL by Jean Lorrah.

Jonmair's destiny was death. Baird Axton made her want to live.

This is the book the fans asked for: it's about the heroism of ordinary Simes and Gens that made Unity possible. There are no Farrises or Tigues in this book, and the only channel with a major role (a supporting character) uses his dual system for playing shiltpron, not transferring selyn.

The main characters are a renSime, Baird Axton, and a Gen, Jonmair. Sold into the Pens by her own parents when she establishes as a Gen, Jonmair expects to die providing one more month of life for a Sime. But while she is waiting in the Pen, Unity is declared and Baird rescues her from the Last Kill.

Baird's family owns The Post, the largest entertainment establishment in Norlea, and there Jonmair works while she struggles to figure out what to do with the life she never expected to have. While Baird and Jonmair are the main story, Zhag and Tonyo, whom you met in The Story Untold, are supporting characters also trying to figure out a whole new way of life.

These books are currently available in Kindle, but paper versions will become available in the near future.

First New Sime~Gen in Over Twenty Years!

NEWS! NEWS! NEWS!

Today not one but two new Sime~Gen books were released on Kindle! Other ebook formats will follow, as will a paperback with the two books back-to-back, Ace Double style.

One book is Personal Recognizance by Jacqueline Lichtenberg, a story of students at the exclusive school Rialite, in the era when the computer has recently been reinvented and bright kids quickly find something to do with it besides their lessons.

The other book is The Story Untold and Other Sime~Gen Stories by Jean Lorrah, three stories about musicians Tonyo Logan and Zhag Paget, spanning fifteen years of their amazing career. Their music became one of the forces that allowed the people of Gulf Territory to survive the early years of Unity.

These ebooks are now available, with other editions to follow.

First Channel cover from Borgo Press Edition

Here's what I posted on the facebook SimeGen Group with this cover.

Here's the long-awaited cover for FIRST CHANNEL.  It is paper and e-book available in a couple more days.

Wildside went to the mat for us and photoshopped out some wooden bracelets this figure was wearing. We'll live with the long sleeves and pretend this is a sleeveless yawal -- or maybe just imagine riding pants under a tunic. We imagine this is Kadi rounding up the horses after the fight which leaves Rimon unconscious. We have real good imaginations, Jean and I. We do. The custom art on previous covers has been much, much less accurate, so we've lots of practice.

We see it as Kadi on a saddle stolen from some Freebanders who got it out-Territory -- which tells you a LOT about out-T culture on the Gen side. I would have expected wrangler's saddles, solid Western saddles with gear etc. But we discovered there's more out-T to learn about. Someone quick write a story about where this saddle came from, who made it, and why. Or maybe the story they make up when selling it in town? Talk fast.

Covers of New Sime~Gen Releases

There's a discussion on the SimeGen Group on facebook (please join us!) about the new covers, which are turning out pretty good.

http://www.facebook.com/home.php?sk=group_121838917889519&ap=1

Here are the first two.

And yes, House of Zeor is actually a "Western" -- it's just a Science Fiction Western set in the far future when humanity must reconstruct civilization.  They're lucky horses survived.

On the facebook SimeGen Group, Eliza added tentacles to Digen's headache.  The llink is there if you want it.

Both these novels are now available in e-book.  Here they are on Kindle:

**** ANNOUNCING THE ANNUAL NEW YEAR'S CHAT JANUARY 2, 2011 -- NEW DATE AND TIME

Including combined information from Jacqueline, and Karen:

This is your chance to talk real-time to Jean and me -- I'm planning to be on the simegen.com server's IRC chat for New Year's at 1 PM Mountain Standard Time (USA) on SUNDAY, JANUARY 2, 2011. Please note the new time change, below.

And it's your chance to vote awards for people at simegen.com who have been especially helpful to you. We announce the stock awards, but then all in attendance get a chance to nominate and vote for other awards. Karen has a list of our Awards -- frankly I always forget!

You can see brief definitions of all the awards at:
http://www.simegen.com/sgfandom/chats/chat2006_chat2.html#awards
In many cases, more detailed explanations of these awards, with lists of previous winners, can be found on the main Awards page (http://www.simegen.com/sgfandom/awards). You can see these by following links from the one-liner page, above.

We (theoretically; we're always lagging on this) post the list of awards because it forms the major part of the history of this domain. I feel it's important to keep track of our major contributors.

So anyone who's on our lists or deals with us in any way is more than welcome to sit in, nominate, vote, and chat.

We run it in two simultaneous IRC chatrooms -- so you can split your screen in half. One screen is moderated during the business meeting so the log is easier to clean up. The other screen is just chatter. Then both "rooms" are opened so everyone can talk to each other and just party.

For those that don't have the mIRC (or equivalent) software, there is an entry point for you via the web page of: http://www.simegen.com/techtools/chat/

We use the "rooms" #sgchat for the business meeting and #sgtalk for "side talk." Those who attended last year using mIRC or equivalent, your settings are unchanged.

The New Year's Chat will be 3pm EST, 2pm CST, 1pm MST, NOON PST. For those not in North America, please use the Worldclock website http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/ to calculate the time that is right for you.

The edited and cleaned text of the meeting is put online as soon as possible.

Previous chat logs can be found at www.simegen.com/sgfandom/chats/ if you want to take a look.

Karen will gladly help OFF LIST to get you connected to the chat. Some help, though perhaps not quite current, is also found on http://www.simegen.com/techtools/ where tutorials can be found.

Karen will be on AIM, as long as her computer allows her, prior to the chat and will do what she can to help everyone who wants to attend, "get connected."

******TITLES ON AMAZON.COM******

Wildside Press has now released MOLT BROTHER and CITY OF A MILLION LEGENDS on Kindle, Nook, Apple, and all the new e-book formats. They are still available on Fictionwise.com PLUS in paper if you want new copies.

HOUSE OF ZEOR just went to press -- there will be ebook in all those formats, PLUS new paper POD on acid free paper.

UNTO ZEOR, FOREVER has been turned in, and will be back for proofing soon. We'll let you know when, but it will hit all formats as well.

Here's a the link to use that goes to the Jacqueline Lichtenberg titles on Amazon. If you can copy, paste and delete the carriage returns, use this link to buy anything on amazon and Sime~Gen Inc. gets a few cents toward our server fees.

Our Lists aren't functioning well due to the spam load, so until we can move the server and get new List software, you can interact with us by dropping a note on the whatsnew.simegen.com blog or via facebook, twitter or any service you prefer.

Find all my services at http://jacquelinelichtenberg.com/ in the friendfeed box. (yes, I have to update that page but I'm working on the book text!)

I'm currently working on MAHOGANY TRINROSE.

I'm using the files that Karen MacLeod proofed up for Meisha Merlin before they collapsed.

We have turned in PERSONAL RECOGNIZANCE (my new Sime~Gen story set in the most modern setting yet) and 3 of Jean's Zhag and Tonyo stories for a DOUBLE - (like the old Ace Doubles) - printed back to back in the same volume.

We'll let you know when they come out.

All the Sime~Gen works (INCLUDING THE FARRIS CHANNEL) are now under contract to the Borgo imprint of Wildside Press, a slick modern operation that will make them available everywhere in every format -- EXCEPT in brick-n-mortar stores.

******BORDERLANDS NEWS******

Borderlands Part 32, "On The Run," is now posted at
http://www.simegen.com/sgfandom/fans/bev/boom/index.html#part.32
Who's on the run? Well, new characters Dilena and Portia are on the run from Gen T, which doesn't like their lifestyle very much. No, they're both Gens. Sosu Nick is not actually on the run, but like Yellow-Dog Dingo, he's very truly run after, and by a rather unsavory character.
Poor Ambassador Tsibola is back in town, and at least four difficult interviews with different people send him on the run -- to his bed.Sidebars include the beginnings of a new Distect scare, this time out-T,and a scene where Cristal asks for advice (with thematic connections to one of the main plot threads). We also have Saag and Randayl, the Senator's Sime sons, exchanging stories, as well as Fennik and Tsibola having one of their brandy evenings, only without the brandy this time.
Feedback! We want feedback! Give us feedback! And then in due course you'll get Part 33, "What's Yours Is Mine."

******JEAN PUBLISHES BLOG, WEBPAGE, AND JOURNAL******

Have you been reading my blog, The House of Keon, at http://www.houseofkeon.blogspot.com/ ? It's about my various travels, and is currently about my recent visits to places of interest near home--what I call a semi-staycation. Well, until I go somewhere else, or unless and until photos from more of my earlier travels turn up, I will soon run out of material and leave that blog standing with all my previous posts. Next time I travel, I will of course add to that blog, but that probably won't be until summer 2011.
However, I will not be giving up blogging. Probably just about in time for the next issue of our newsletter, I expect to begin a new blog on a different topic associated with a project Jacqueline and I will start soon. Tune in next time to find out what it is!

More Amazon news: Amazon.com has just--without warning--eliminated all ebook downloads other than Kindle. The downside is that you can no longer download the ebooks of Jacqueline or my books that had been available, or the Nessie's Grotto books by Lois Wickstrom and me (you can still get the latter at Fictionwise). The upside is that Blood Will Tell and my four Star Trek novels have suddenly developed Kindle editions.

******NEW PROJECT FOR JACQUELINE******

MY CURRENT MAIN EFFORTS:
http://www.simegen.com/marketplace/downloads/
That is a page that needs redesigning, just as the /marketplace/ top page will.
We are preparing to make available in e-book and on paper, a set of 7 textbooks on writing, 5 of which are on philosophy, the wellspring of ideas and the bulwark against writer's block. The particular philosophy showcased is the structural framework behind Tarot, but you don't have to be interested in Tarot to use this information in writing or many other endeavors.
Novel and Screenwriting are both very much rooted in structure which becomes invisible when clothed in unique details.
Learning to perceive the underlying structure behind seething masses of detail is somewhat like learning to spot starfish against an underwater boulder full of barnacles.
It's pattern-recognition, a brain function we all have and sometimes fail to buff up. These first 5 volumes help train the mental "eye" in a kind of abstract "pattern recognition" that will serve to sharpen results in everything you do.
The final 2 (or possibly more) volumes are directed at readers and writers who want to understand the application of the pattern recognition principles showcased in the first 5 volumes. These volumes are designed to be of use specifically by writers, but writers working in fiction, non-fiction, or screenwriting.
Currently, this project stands at the beginning of Volume #5, with several more weeks work to do on that volume, plus artwork and packaging efforts. This is a team effort that has absorbed Karen, Patric, Jean, me -- and others here -- for a year or more.
Some of these Tarot and Writing Lesson chapters have been posted to the blogs
http://www.editingcircle.blogspot.com/

****** JEAN'S NEW ESSAYS ON WRITING

You can find an ongoing series of Jean's new essays, Secrets of Fiction Writing, at http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Jean_Lorrah. There are eleven articles up, and I just turned in the twelfth yesterday. I hope to produce approximately one a week. These articles can be read directly on the Ezine Article website, or ezines are free to reprint them as long as they follow the Ezine Article rules.

******JOIN THE REVIEWERS

Jacqueline is developing a new way to find books to review -- via Twitter!
And with more people helping we could, perhaps, find more reviewers. I've been collecting people in writing, editing, publishing, and various parts of the film industry on Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn.
I really could use some help with this. To connect with me on Twitter
http://twitter.com/jlichtenberg
To connect with me on Facebook --
http://facebook.com/jacqueline.lichtenberg
To connect with me on LinkedIn --
http://www.linkedin.com/in/jacquelinelichtenberg
Karen MacLeod and Patric are also available on LinkedIn. We are moving gradually into the networking space and evaluating the uses of cloud computing. We need a new coordinator for the Reviews department who can work with the social networking tools.
For the moment we have only a few reviewers responding to the e-mail List, and I suspect that's the drift away from e-mail because of the spam load. We need to launch a blogspot blog for our Reviewers instead of a List, or perhaps establish a Group on Facebook.
I will continue to post books to be reviewed to the reviewers List as I discover them. As Coordinator of our Reviews Department, I ask for your help. With the current upsurge in e-book publishing that is sweeping the Internet, we daily receive an increasing number of books to review. Yet, in counterpoint, we have a shortage of reviewers, and many of our
reviews staff are several books behind. We are eagerly and actively seeking new people to review for us. As with all of Sime~Gen, our reviewers are volunteers. When they write a review, it is posted with their byline, and they get to keep the review copy of the books they have read and reviewed.
For more information on our Reviewers Agreement, visit:
http://www.simegen.com/agreements/revagr.html
Please help us by passing this information along to anyone you know who might want to join our happy band. If interested, they can send a note expressing their interest to Jean at simegen@simegen.com

******HELP WANTED*****

The spotlights section of Simegen.com currently needs interviewers, spotlight posting personnel, an assistant spotlights gatemaster, and a keygifts store manager. We are also requesting an Assistant Reviews Co-coordinator - duties include covering when other staff are unable to perform tasks. We are almost finished revamping our reviews section and expect
activity to be at a constant high level. We're looking for a versatile quick learner able to put in some time daily. Pluses are: A good command of the English language (syntax, grammar, punctuation, in that order), some computer experience or ability to learn, and an interest in books. Direct all inquiries to simegen@simegen.com.
Individuals to take over, or assist with the SIMECENTER Site -- It isn't at all hard, but a bit time-consuming...and very rewarding ("meeting" these marvelous authors and artists, if only via E-Mail and their websites.) Please write me, Kaires Tevesu, if you are interested. People who talked to me earlier about helping: I've lost track of your communications in the throes of several changes of computer. PLEASE contact me again. The time is right, the templates are much more
robust, I have a small backlog of stories (the hardest part of operating SimeCenter), and I've even documented some of the processes. I'd like to talk to you again.

******PUBLICATION SCHEDULE********

We have had to withdraw the entire Sime~Gen project from Meisha Merlin for a wide range of reasons. They missed several deadlines for publication of TO KISS OR TO KILL and showed no signs of intention to get it out any time in the foreseeable future. That stalled everything else. It was very disappointing.
THE UNITY TRILOGY should continue to be available for some time -- they have the right to dispose of all stock in the
Meisha Merlin warehouse.

House of Zeor reissue now available!!

I was just told today, 11/18/2010 at 1:15 PM Mountain Standard Time that House of Zeor is NOW AVAILABLE and they're sending me a sample paper copy.

As of 1:30 though, it's not yet showing on Amazon.  Oh, being ahead of the electronic world is frustrating.

I'm well into the work assembling RENSIME for them.  MAHOGANY TRINROSE is turned in as is UNTO ZEOR, FOREVER -- those 3 comprise the Digen Farris trilogy.
